themarcdog asked: So Tyson beats Ali?!

Yup.

Just going from my line of thinking in the previous post. Joe Frazier gave Ali all he could handle and I think Mike Tyson was an upgrade over Frazier in every department except heart.

The only way Ali beats Tyson is if he got inside of his head during the pre-fight hype and interviews. Then managed to drag the fight into the later rounds when Mike became unfocused and more susceptible to mistakes. Tyson would probably fall apart against Ali after round 7 or so.

But personally, I don’t think it would make it that far.

themarcdog asked: Tyson in his prime vs. Frazier in his prime. Who yo money on?

Tyson.

Tyson in his prime was much faster and technically proficient than Joe Frazier. Frazier wins in the heart category, but as George Foreman proved in his match vs. Frazier…. it wouldn’t even get deep into the fight where heart becomes a factor.

I think the only person who could beat Mike Tyson in his prime would be a prime George Foreman. The only people to beat George in his prime were Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young, both who were slick and smart boxers who intelligently bided their time and waited for George to get tired late into the fight.

Mike Tyson is a pressure fighter, there was no such thing as biding time and staying on the outside… and charging in against George is something that never worked…. for anybody.

I’m not saying George would win, but if there’s anyone who beats Prime Mike… I think its George. No matter who wins, the fight wouldn’t go longer than 4 rounds IMO. Someone’s getting knocked the fuck out.

The reason I say George winning isn’t a lock is because he was always kind of sloppy, even in his prime. Whereas Mike Tyson was crisp with ungodly speed for a heavyweight, and there was NO sacrifice in power.
