Things I Hate: Worthless Regional Rap Label Imprints

Has there ever been one that was actually successful?

Death Row East = failed
Def Jam South =  failed
Dipset West = failed
G Unit South = failed
Bad Boy South = failed
Roc La Familia = failed

I just saw that rick ross is starting “Maybach Music Latino” and it made me want to punch my laptop screen.

I don’t really understand why they need to create a new label just because they’ve signed an artist who lives on the other side of the country. I can KINDA understand Def Jam South…. but all these other shits are for the birds.

Scarface - Who Do You Believe In?

The third verse to this song is my favorite of the shit Scarface has put out in the last 5 years or so. It was on an album of bullshit throwaway material that J. Prince put out but it was a diamond in the rough.

Now if the ghetto ever made a change, It changed for the worse
But I love it so I write in tears, And pray til it hurts
Prick my fingers, Til the blood stains would cover the page
Wipe my eyes and look ahead, And hope to see better days
I turn my TV off, Cause I don’t wanna look at the news
Hard times seeing people crying, Arabs and Jews
Fighting for they religion, Niggas livin like niggas
Mexicans on the border, White boys saying kill em
Politicians playing puppet, Gotta answer me this:

Do you believe you’re really God?, My answer is this
Did you say, “Let there be light”, give Adam his wife?
Produce the vegetation, Separate the day from the night?
Create the land and the sea and man in your own image?
If not, then I want all this bullshit ended
Sending the kids to fight a war that they ain’t have to be in
Ask Saddam, shit is dead… Let’s see you fuck with them Koreans

Coroner: Rapper Heavy D died of blood clot in lung

Rapper Heavy D died of a blood clot in his lung and other conditions, a coroner’s report revealed Tuesday.

The rapper, famous for the 1991 hit “Now That We Found Love,” died Nov. 8 after collapsing at his Beverly Hills home.

The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner determined the 44-year-old died of a pulmonary embolism, deep leg vein thrombosis, and arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Errington Myers, was found conscious with difficulty breathing at his home after police were called, the Beverly Hills police said.

He was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center later that day, officials said.

Amazing footage of Suga Free banging on a table with a pen to make a beat to rap to, just like he did when him and Dj Quik first met, and also recorded on Street Gospel.

He doesn’t even call himself Suga Free at the time of this video, but still goes under the name Royal-Rock. Classic shit, big shout out to the dude who uploadet this!

So fucking dope. So west coast.

“In 27 years, the longest I’ve been out of the studio is two weeks” - Dr. Dre

That’s how you become the greatest hip-hop producer of all time, and that’s how you become the best at anything. When your competition is on vacation, you work. When your competition is sleeping, you work. When your competition is talking shit about you, you work.

I admire that kind of dedication to something.

You don’t have this kind of fire in your belly from simply going to college four years and earning a degree in something to make a good living. That undying fire of passion has to be lit organically.

There needs to be more hip hop/R&B songs with instrument solos in the middle

I commend Kanye for trying to bring it back last year with “Devil In A New Dress” which had the guitar solo before Rick Ross’ verse starts.

Although I didn’t like H.A.M, I loved how it contained a long solo in the middle. I think one of my favorites of all time is Scarface featuring Nas “In Between Us”.. there was a keyboard/guitar section in there.

Even going back to the early 90s…. janet jackson’s “Anytime, Anyplace” had one too.

It’s really underutilized in today’s music, I think its because everyone wants to have a 4 minute song so the radio stations will play their shit. People are allergic to tracks that last 7, 8, or 9 minutes long.
