What is the ultimate goal of spam anyway?
Like if you spam someone some kind of faulty link and they end up with the iPhone giveaway thing up and down their page, is that like the equivalent of calling someone and saying “Is your fridge running? Then you better go catch it!” or what?
Is that what’s really hood in the streets?
It’s a numbers game.
They phish passwords so their links can be automatically posted on someones blog. Then a small number of people click the link and go to their site. Then an even smaller number of people do something stupid like signing up for something so they (the spammers) can make money. And at the very least they’ll get ad impressions/clicks.
They’re not doing this for laughs, they probably make more money than all of us.
